With a wealth of established Gardens here in the UK, we'd be silly to look elsewhere for beautiful Winter scenes now the weather has turned:

In this post, we'll show you how the gardens were looking last week as a blanket of snow hit areas all over the UK:

The frost covered branches here at the RHS Garden in Harlow-Carr glimmer as the light catches on them. This might be a beautiful sight, but what does this mean for your garden furniture? Protection! The Winter grasses highlight the dew which has been transformed into brittle morning frost. 

Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire (waddesdon.org.uk)

The manor currently has two light installations by Bruce Munro, Blue Moon on a Platter and Angel of Light open until Jan 1st. Closed Dec 24th, 25th & 26th (waddesdon.org.uk).

Sparkle: The Alnwick Garden, Northumberland (alnwickgarden.com)

This beautiful walkway is adorned with lights. When the lighting installation is activated, the hornbeam pergola will be illuminated with blue and white lights.

Cambridge University Botanic Garden (botanic.cam.ac.uk)

The Cambridge University Botanic Garden is one of the UK's most reknowned gardens. Open 10am-4pm November - January, the beautiful wintery hues can be viewed in peace all day.

These silver birch trees form part of the Winter Walk at Anglesey Abbey in Cambridgeshire. This garden has fantastic walks and scenic places to sit and enjoy the local birds and wildlife. For opening times please check the national trust site link above!

 Bridge walkers at Bodnant Garden, Conwy, Wales are enjoying the natural wonders of great british gardens. But how long until that water is frozen?!

The Winter Garden at Dunham Massey, Cheshire is open all year round, just like most of our favourite UK gardens.

If we stop supporting these fantastic resources, then unfortunately the gardens wont survive to be around for generations to come. We all have a responsibility to express our love for these national institutions.

As the months come and go, its more and more crucial that you've prepared your garden for the harsh extremes that December and January often bring us. A few checklist items besides protecting your garden furniture include; planting spring bulbs, relocating cacti to a warmer place inside and aerating your lawn.

Cold weather is known to make wood dry and brittle, whilst accellerating the chance of dry rot. Wooden furniture is especially at risk in areas with extremes differences in day and night temperatures. 

The regular expansion and contractions during the day and night can cause warping and cracks, so its particularly important that you use a bench cover to maintain the lustre, shape and sonorous qualities of your furniture.

A Few Rules

The competition will run for approximately 14 days and is planned to end on Friday 16th November 2012. Enter now to avoid missing out.

We will endeavour to deliver the Bench/Picnic Bench cover to an agreed standard UK mainland address as arranged in advance with the winner. The winner will also have to select either a small cover(120cm), a medium cover(150cm) or a large cover(180cm) depending on the size of their Bench. If you are selecting the Picnic Bench cover, this only has one size.

Minimum age for entry is 18.

The winner will be chosen at random.

Automated sign-ups or clicks will not be accepted and we will reject any suspicious entries.
This competition is not associated with any other company.

The winner will be notified via the email list entry and must claim the prize within 30 days.
